Bompers Slot – Free Demo

Provider: Elk Studios
A Bomper needs seven hits from falling symbols before it turns into a sticky wild, and in Free Drops that wild stays put for the rest of the round. Four of those rounds came in my 460 spins of this Elk Studios slot, none of them retriggered, and the best one paid 31 times the stake.

Four rows to eight, one avalanche per row

What helps push things is the game grid, which carries with it 6 slanted columns with 4 rows on each at the outset, expanding to 8. Every new drop starts back on 4 rows, with symbols falling randomly to the left or right. Each avalanche unlocks one more row. A full grid of 8 rows therefore takes 4 avalanches in a row within the same drop. That means win ways rise from 4,096 up to 262,144 when fully extended, and it also has an avalanche feature which can generate several wins on one spin. It does this by clearing winning symbols from the grid and allowing fresh ones drop in for more opportunities. Wilds are not removed in an avalanche and stay on the grid while new symbols fall around them.

The symbols that form the paytable are divided between low pay fruits (Lemon, Cherries, Watermelon, Orange) and high pay traditional symbols, which Elk Studios has drawn in rising order: the Clover, the Horseshoe, then BAR, trailed by Red 7 at the top. Lemon and Cherries are the lowest of the fruits, paying 0.3 times the stake for 6 of a kind. Red 7 is the most lucrative standard symbol, where 6 of a kind pay 10 times the stake, and wins pay left to right on neighbouring columns. The wild symbol is on hand to assist with this. Below Red 7, 6 of a kind pays 3 times the stake on BAR, 2 times on the Horseshoe and once on the Clover.

What a Mystery Bomb and a Shooting Star do to the grid

Bompers isn't lacking of those either when it comes to features, and along with avalanche wins comes a bundle of random modifiers and fully-fledged triggered additions to keep the game moving and busy. First up are Mystery Bombs, which transform themselves and connecting symbols into one random symbol at the close of the avalanches. A Mystery Bomb can also come from a Shooting Star, which rises from the bottom row during avalanches and fires up to 7 symbols around itself, up to 3 of them wilds, once it reaches the top.

Seven Bomper hits and four Free Drops rounds

Things warm up when the Bonus symbol becomes involved, and if 3 land they trigger Free Drops:

Free Drops – A round of 7 free drops that begins with up to 5 Bompers. The Bompers are placed at random on the grid before the bonus starts. These become sticky wilds after 7 hits from dropping symbols. Outside the bonus, a Bomper that turns wild stays in place only for the wins and avalanches of that drop. Bompers and sticky wilds remain for the entire bonus. The session triggered Free Drops 4 times in 460 spins at a 6.00 stake, and none of those rounds retriggered.

Bonus symbols keep to show during Free Drops and can retrigger the round. The biggest of the four rounds paid 186.00, 31 times the stake, on spin 214, and together they made up 38% of everything the session won.

Finally, and where offered, the game may also arrive with a Buy Bonus option, a feature buy choice which takes players straight to Free Drops with 3 Bonus symbols assured. In the session the rounds arrived on spins 86, 214, 397 and 455, with 183 spins between the second and third. The price for this shortcut is 100 times the total bet. At the 6.00 stake used in this session, that comes to 600.00 for each buy.

X-iter, priced from 25 to 300 times the bet

There is a range of X-iter modes on the bonus side. Besides the Buy Bonus, they offer 3 drops with 1, 2 and 3 Bompers for 25 times the bet, 5 drops with a growing number of Bompers for 50 times, and 10 drops that each add a new Bomper for 300 times. Wins have been limited at 5,000 times the stake.

Bompers slot

The Minty Take: Over 460 spins at 6.00 the session wagered 2,760.00 and got 1,265.10 back, a return of 45.8%, and the balance never rose above the 5,000.00 it started with.

So Bompers might not be the next step in the slot development.
