Four Scatters on spin 42 put a choice on screen: 12 Free Spins with randomly multiplied Wilds, or 3 Gold Blitz spins where a Collect on reel 1 guarantees a pay every time. I took the spins. Around that fork sit 4096 ways, Cash symbols worth up to 20 times the bet and three jackpots gathered by…
Steel yourselves folks. Gold Blitz from Fortune Factory Studios has landed. The Gold Blitz name also sits on two other Fortune Factory Studios titles, Gold Blitz Ultimate and Gold Blitz Extreme.
The slot is simple beneath the gold. It employs 6 reels, 4 rows, and 4096 ways to rack up winners on, which occurs when at least two or more identical symbols land on neighbouring reels from the leftmost reel. Wins pay from left to right only, and each way pays just its highest combination.
It begins with the 9-A royals, and the premiums draw on the gold theme. The royals need at least three of a kind to pay, and the A and K top them at 1.5 times the stake for a way of six. They portray a horseshoe, a bell, gold coins, gold bars, and a dollar sign, which is valued the most from the standard symbols at 5 times the stake for a way of six. Gold bars and gold coins come next at 2.5 times the stake for six, with the bell and horseshoe at 2 times. The wild shows up on reels 2 to 6. It has no payout of its own and does not stand in for the Scatter, Cash, Jackpot or Collect symbols. It can substitute for any other pay symbol. On spin 272 of my session, a Wild joined a way of Dollar signs for 300.00, six times my 50.00 stake.
The game isn't as wild as it might be when it turns to volatility, though at 5/6 it's still in the upper bracket. Across my 350 spins, the longest stretch without any win ran to 22 spins and ended on spin 313. That brings me to the mechanics.
Two further symbols round off the paytable and trigger a couple of the add-ons, and one is the Bonus scatter. When 3 or more land, they award a prize plus a selection of bonus. That prize is 1 times the bet for 3 Scatters, rising to 2, 3 and 5 times for 4, 5 and 6. Here, punters choose 8 Free Spins or 2 Gold Blitz spins, or up to 30 Free Spins or 7 Gold Blitz spins with 6 scatters. In Gold Blitz only Collect, Cash and Jackpot symbols appear, a Collect lands on reel 1 on every spin so each spin pays, and the feature cannot be retriggered.
The other route to reach Free Spins is to purchase 4, 5 or 6 scatters at 75x, 120x or 150x the wager during the base game, and either route, every wild in a way win during free spins is randomly handed a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier. In Free Spins the Wild lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4.
The Cash, Jackpot and Collect symbols do not land during this stage. But scatters do, and 2 to 6 of them award 5, 8, 12, 20 or 30 extra free spins. On spin 42 four Scatters paid 100.00 and I took 12 Free Spins over 3 Gold Blitz spins, and the round did not retrigger and paid 2,280.00, or 45.6 times the stake.
The final add-on is the Collect feature. It shows up whenever a Collect symbol lands on reel 1 or reel 6 during the base game, and when activated, each Collect symbol collects every Cash and Jackpot symbol in sight. Cash symbols carry values from 0.5 to 20 times the total bet, and each Jackpot symbol awards one of the Mega, Major or Minor jackpots.
The upside of Gold Blitz maxes out at 5,000 times the stake. The jackpot meter showed the Mega at 2,500 times the bet, the Major at 250 times and the Minor at 25 times.
Minty’s Final Note: The mechanics definitely hold some appeal. Over the 350 spins I wagered 17,500.00 and won back 8,960.00, which left the balance at 91,460.00 from a start of 100,000.00.
