An Award Above Every Reel
There is a time and place for novelty. Elephant King sets a Prize Disk row above its reels, with one award showing over each reel. But you certainly cannot expect an elephant to head the assault into new territory. IGT also offers a version with the same title, Elephant King MegaJackpots.
This 5 reel slot runs on 40 fixed paylines, and I entered the Elephant King at 1.50 per spin. A spin costs 75 coins, so at 1.50 the coin value was 0.02. Hit a Bonus scatter symbol, and you'll activate the Elephant King Prize Disk feature. A single Bonus scatter anywhere on the reels is enough to start it. There you can collect bonus wins, Free Spins or Extra Spins. Bonus wins and Prize Disk wins are paid on top of any line wins from the same spin.
It is handing you a savanna lineup to look at while spinning the reels, and there you'll notice card suits and a blue jewel as well as more lucrative gazelles, zebras, rhinos and, of course, the elephant himself. Line wins pay left to right on consecutive reels starting from the far left reel, and only the highest win is paid on each payline. He is the highest payer, handing you 6.67 times your stake for 5 of a kind, and there's also a wild that substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus scatter. The Wild lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 only.
Scatters, Wilds and the Moving Prize Disk
Watch out for the Bonus scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5, as any of them will activate the Prize Disk feature. In the Free Spins Bonus the Bonus scatter can land on all five reels. There each one collects what the disk displays above it. Prize Disk bonus wins range from 6.67x to 133.33x the total bet. Any Free Spins symbol grants 10 spins. Over 320 spins at 1.50 I triggered the Free Spins Bonus four times, on spins 99, 212, 213 and 228.
What sticks out here is the Prize Disk itself: moving one reel left every spin, a fresh prize arrives above reel 5. The Free Spins Bonus uses its own Prize Disk and its own reels with more Bonus symbols added, and its paytable doubles the Elephant to 13.33x the stake for 5 of a kind. +2 free spins are appended to your count when an Extra Spins symbol is collected, and if you collect enough of them, you could be playing up to 250 free spins per bonus. None of my four bonuses collected an Extra Spins symbol, so each ran on its opening 10 or 20 spins.
What 320 Spins at 1.50 Left Behind
Elephant King is a slot. Make no mistake about it. The biggest win came on spin 104, when three Bonus scatters collected Prize Disk bonus wins worth 510.00 plus 144.00 in line wins, for 654.00 or 436.0x the stake.
Our Minty Verdict: The session ended with the balance up from 1,000.00 to 1,613.15 after 480.00 wagered, a return of 227.7%.
