Nudges, Holds and the Fistro Meter

It's not all observing symbols spin in. There are also three mechanics to watch out for: the Nudges, Free Spins, and the Fistro meter.

The Nudges mechanic is accessible during the base game, and after any spin, Chiquito can at random add 1-4 nudges to the meter. Some of those nudges are applied automatically. The reels move one place to finish wins when they are used.

Free spins are granted if 3 Chiquito symbols land on the reels. In this session they arrived twice, on spin 44 and again on spin 278, 234 spins later.

Players have to fill the Fistro meter with Fistro symbols to open the bonus rounds, which shifts action to a second set of upper reels. Fistro symbols are marked F and are collected on the main reels. There, three identical Chiquitos trigger a bonus. Three cowboy Chiquitos launch the Dressing Room, a pick-em with prizes and multipliers. Three walking Chiquitos launch Freeday, and three smiling Chiquitos launch The Show, where the judges award prizes. In Freeday, Chiquito dances along to the bar and awards prizes on the way.

The play is simple, but enjoyable. It can require time to warm to, though. Of the 330 spins played, 113 paid something, and the longest run without a win lasted 9 spins.

During testing, the low-value fruit wins gave rise to a whole heap of nothing happening for a spell, but the momentum perked up after a spell. The balance peaked at 226.60 on spin 98, fell as low as 118.50 and finished at 142.70, a session return of 82.6% on 330.00 wagered.

The mechanics were rather enjoyable too, and the free spins returned 28.3x the stake the first time they were triggered and 54x the second time. Together those two rounds paid 82.30, which was 30% of everything won in the session. Not entirely 1,000x, but neat all the same.
