A Harlequin xNudge Wild lands on one of the three middle reels, nudges until it fills the reel, then walks left a reel at a time with a respin for every step. My two best spins out of 380 were both that respin, at 16x and 10.2x the stake. The Harlequin Bonus, where the same wild opens at x3 on reel…

A Harlequin that walks off through reel 1
Harlequin Carnival is the name of a carnival styled slot from studio Nolimit City. I played 380 spins of it at a stake of 10.00 credits, starting from a balance of 10,000.00. Employing 5 reels and 20 paylines, it is built on a pair of mechanics. The paylines are fixed, and a win needs 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols on one of them, counted left to right from the leftmost reel. Punters can benefit from a Harlequin Respin feature with walking wilds. That respin was the only feature I saw in those 380 spins. They can benefit as well from Harlequin Bonus Spins with an additional spin for every Bonus symbol, and the variance is high, coming in at 6 out of 6 on the volatility scale.
From 0.20 to 100, Harlequin Carnival is available.
Four card suits under five carnival masks
The low-paying symbols are depicted by 4 card suits including spades and hearts, not wholly unexpected, and you won't be too surprised to spot masks on the face of the premiums either. The other two suits are Diamond and Club, and five of a kind pays 3.75 times the stake for those and 4 times the stake for Spade or Heart. They are White Mask, Gold Plague Doctor Mask, Cat Mask, Moon Mask and Sun Mask. That list runs from the lowest to the highest: five White Masks pay 5 times the stake and five Moon Masks pay 10 times. The last is the most lucrative of all symbols, handing you 15x times your stake for 5 of a kind. Three Sun Masks on a line pay 0.5 times the stake, and 26 of my 56 paying spins returned less than I had staked.
On top of it all, of course, is the Harlequin. It is an xNudge Wild, a symbol Nolimit City also uses in Deadwood and Warrior Graveyard. That is the wild, thus substituting all other symbols bar the Bonus symbol.
What the xNudge Wild did on spins 67 and 112
If a Harlequin xNudge Wild lands on reels 2 to 4 in the base game, the Harlequin Respin feature enters into action. It did so for my two largest wins: on spin 67 a wild walked left until it left through reel 1 and the respin paid 160.00 credits, 16 times the stake, and on spin 112 a wild at x2 reached reel 1 for 102.00 credits, 10.2 times the stake. The wild will nudge until it covers the reel. Each position it nudges adds 1 to its multiplier, up to x3 in the base game, and when several wilds take part in the same win their multipliers are added together. Then it will continue to walk one by one towards the first reel for every following respin, and fresh wilds landing during the respins join in.
The Minty Summary: Two Harlequin Respins, at 16 and 10.2 times the stake, were the best this build showed me. The Harlequin Bonus, where the wild starts at x3 and climbs to x7, did not open in any of the 380 spins, and the balance closed 2,860 credits under its start.
Eight Harlequin Bonus Spins I never reached
When spinning Harlequin Carnival, what a player truly wishes to do is to trigger the Harlequin Bonus. It did not trigger once in my 380 spins, and that includes the second route in, where Bonus symbols landing during a Harlequin Respin are collected and the third one starts it. 3 Bonus symbols on the middle reels trigger the Harlequin Bonus. The bonus starts with a guaranteed Harlequin xNudge Wild at x3 on reel 5, which walks one reel to the left on each spin and gains 1 per step up to x7 on reel 1, while Bonus symbols act as wilds and 3 more of them collected place another wild on reel 5. 8 Harlequin Bonus Spins are awarded and, furthermore, each Bonus symbol during the bonus awards an additional spin.
7,140 left after the carnival
Harlequin Carnival is another slot from Nolimit City, and not only does it arrive with a handful of mechanics. My session ended at 7,140.00 credits from 10,000.00, with 940.00 won against 3,800.00 wagered, a return of 24.7%. There's also a max win of 5861 times your stake loaded inside this bad boy and the variance is high. My balance never rose above its starting figure, and the longest run without a win was 24 spins, ending on spin 24. Sure, it's not the most elegant slot I ever viewed.
