But the games themselves are undeniably starting to look more intriguing with an increase in both volatility and potential. In this one the potential sits in the free spins multiplier, which climbs with every reaction and is not capped.

Some things I'm are not so impressed by, such as a somewhat underlying generic feel to the games. In all fairness, many providers wrestle with that. What I'm trying to say is that most providers have a certain style (look and feel) linked with their games that seem to be tough to shake, and in some instances that is all fine and dandy. Here the furniture is the standard Megaways set: a ways counter over the reels, a buy panel down the left side of them. In other instances it swiftly gets old and repetitive. Wolf Legend Megaways is a wilderness themed slot that any child that's into wolves would adore to play (lol), and it comes with that customary howling-at-the-moon type melody that every wolf slot ever made has reached for. It's rather less commonplace in terms of configuration. The ways count moves spin to spin with the symbol heights, so 117,649 is the ceiling rather than the number you see. It makes use of six reels of two to seven symbols each and up to 117,649 ways to win, with cascading reactions on every win, playable on all devices. Each reaction clears the winning symbols and refills the space, with the horizontal top reel feeding in from the right.

The gold Wolf sits at 50 times the stake

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. I like how uncomplicated Blueprint's paytables are, no baffling coin values to compute or any off that bullcrap! Every figure on the table is a multiple of the stake, so six cougars are 5 times it and six bison 2.5 times it.

Wins are formed left to right on neighbouring reels regardless of symbol size. Symbol size decides how many ways a spin has, not what a hit is worth. Every payout is multiplied by the stake, and the top symbol is the gold Wolf. The card ranks are the floor, with six of a J, a 10 or a 9 paying 1 times the stake. It is the most rewarding, paying 50 times the stake for six of a kind. It is also the only symbol on the table that pays for two, at 1 times the stake.

The wild symbol substitutes for every symbol except the scatter, and there is also a Mystery Symbol. That exception matters, because the scatter is the Bonus symbol that starts the free spins. It transforms into any symbol except the Bonus symbol. So a Mystery transformation can fill the reels with a paying symbol, but it can never hand you a trigger.

Gamble the streak before the round starts

A gamble has also been built into the game, and before entering the bonus you can gamble for additional streak spins - one, two or three streaks. It is a wheel with segments for 1 streak, 2 streaks and 3 streaks, plus a blue segment the rules call a true representation of the gamble success odds. A losing gamble pays nothing at all. Taking the spins already won is the other option on the screen. It finishes the bonus there and then. The gamble sits between the trigger and the first free spin, so the decision comes before you have seen a single spin of the round.

How the Legend Free Spins round runs

3 or more Bonus symbols trigger the Legend Free Spins, and every additional Bonus symbol in view on the triggering spin awards extra free spins on top. I hit it twice in 330 spins, on spin 172 and again on spin 306.

In the free spins feature, players will benefit from an unlimited win multiplier. The sequence is short: Bonus symbols to start it, an optional gamble for extra streak spins, then the spins themselves with the multiplier running. It grows after every reaction, and it is not capped. On spin 172 the round took the balance from 565.60 to 1,057.60, the highest point of the session. Other than that, there's really not much more going on, making the free spin feature fairly comparable to the base game in terms of playability. The second one arrived 134 spins later and moved the balance from 657.20 to 785.20.

If you'd rather not wait for it, the Legend Free Spins Bonus Bet buys the feature outright at the price displayed on the panel - 300.00 at a 4.00 stake. That is 75 times the stake, printed as a cash figure rather than as a multiple of what you are betting. It raises the RTP to 96.50%. Waiting for it cost me 1,320.00 in stakes across 330 spins for the two triggers I got.

77.1% back over 330 spins

Wolf Legend Megaways seemed anything but well balanced, during my session at least. The balance drifted down for most of it, from 1,000.00 to a low of 560.00. Over 330 spins at a 4.00 stake I wagered 1,320.00 and received 1,018.00 back, a 77.1% return, with only 61 paying spins and a 25 spin dry spell along the way. Of those 61, 32 gave back less than the 4.00 they cost.

When it comes to the gamble, I'm not really a big fan of those.

Albeit Wolf Legend Megaways is a respectable slot with a huge 50,000 times the stake potential, the theme does not appeal to me regrettably. That 25 spin run without a win ended on spin 215. My two features paid 124 and 33 times the stake between them, and together they were 62% of everything I won. The best spin outside them was 38.40 on spin 65, 9.6 times the stake.

Is it something I will play? No, not really.
