Let's suss it out. Over those spins I wagered 1,450.00 and won 1,042.00, finishing on 1,592.00, and the longest run without a win lasted 18 spins.
The play occurs on a 5x3, 20 fixed lines game grid. Only the highest win on each line is paid, though several lines can pay on the same spin. It is set apart by the addition of the Christmas Wheel, a feature that may spin when Christmas Tokens land on mid symbols, granting a Mini 15x, Minor 40x, Major 250x or Mega 5,000x the wager prize. Tokens appear only in the base game, only those collected on the current spin count towards the chance, and the Christmas Bag that gathers them is purely visual.
Winning in Piles of Presents occurs when matching symbols land on successive reels beginning from the left-hand edge, and punters receive J-A card symbols as the low payers. These are valued up to 2.5-4x the wager. The A and K pay 4x the stake for five of a kind, the Q and J 2.5x. Santa's Free Spins, Built from Picks
As well as the Christmas Wheel are free spins and bonus feature picks. The Christmas Wheel did not spin at all during my 290 spins. There is a symbol upgrade mechanism as well. The Christmas Wheel cannot trigger inside Santa's Free Spins, the game's free spins round, and if both land on the same spin only the free spins play out.
The bonus round is activated when at least 3 Free Spins symbols land anywhere on the reels, and punters win 6 free spins plus 3, 4 or 5 Bonus feature picks for 3, 4 or 5 activating symbols. There are 16 Bonus features to pick from, and once all of them have been awarded only extra spins remain. The picks are implemented before the bonus round starts. Extra spins picks add 3, 4, 5, 6 or 9 free spins, and any feature picked during the round applies from the next spin.
Two elements occur during free spins that aren't in the base game, and one is a multiplier. It begins at x1 and increases with +1, +2 or +3 picks. In my round the opening picks added +2 and later picks carried it to x6. The second is the upgrade picks. These convert a low symbol into the mid symbol of the same colour, or a mid symbol into a wild. A low symbol can also turn wild once the mid symbol of the same colour has already been upgraded to a wild. One final point: 2, 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins symbols landing during the bonus round grant 1, 2, 3 or 4 extra picks.
