Scroll of Dead Slot – Free Demo

Provider: Play'n GO
A sixth reel sits beside the five in Scroll of Dead from the first spin, drawn shut behind a padlock, and three Scarabs anywhere on screen are what open it. Play'n GO puts a gamble step in front of every base game win too, doubling on colour or paying four times on suit before anything is banked.

Five reels, plus one behind a padlock

Scroll of Dead is a Video Slot with 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines, and the slot pays left to right. A sixth reel already sits to the right of those five while the base game runs, drawn as a closed scroll behind a padlock. Only the largest win per line is granted. Any mixture of identical symbols on successive reels from the left grants a win.

Scroll of Dead slot

A base game win opens a Gamble step before it is banked, and the step carries its own panel of terms. Colour pays double at a stated 50% chance and suit pays four times at 25%, and the panel adds that previous actions do not influence the result outcome. On a captured win of 16.00 the gamble offered 16 for colour or 32 for suit; red was picked and an ace of hearts came up.

Play'n GO launched Scroll of Dead on May 20, 2021. It sits alongside Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead, the studio's other 10-payline books built on a randomly chosen expanding symbol. It unfolds in ancient Egypt, and it revolves around a Pharaoh Queen and the scarab that protects her tomb.

The Scarab counts twice

The slot's top symbols are the Scarab and the Pharaoh Queen. Below her come the Cobra, the Falcon and the Ankh, and then the card ranks 10 through Ace. The Scarab is Wild and Scatter in one, and the Pharaoh Queen is the most rewarding one, paying 7500 coins for six on a line. Six of a kind is only reachable once the free spins add their reel, since the base game grid stops at five. The Scarab stands in for any symbol, and it also pays anywhere on the reels, multiplying the total bet - 2x for three, 20x for four, 200x for five and 500x for six. Those scatter wins are added on top of the payline wins. The same three Scarabs can therefore fill a line and pay as scatters on the one spin.

Eight spins with the scroll open

Scroll of Dead has a conventional free spins game. Everything the round adds arrives at once: the extra reel, its own paylines and the chosen symbol. The slot's outstanding feature is the Free Spins round, and it is set off as soon as 3 or more Scarabs surface anywhere on the reels, granting 8 free spins. Eight is the award at three Scarabs and at more than three. These are played with an extra sixth reel and 10 free spin paylines. Both of the rounds in my session ran their 8 spins out and stopped there.

One special symbol is selected at random at the beginning of the round during the Free Spins. The pick is made before the first free spin turns. It expands to cover its reel, and as an extra bonus 3 or more Scarabs during the free spins award extra spins. An expanded symbol counts anywhere along an active line rather than only from the leftmost reel.

  • Hit 3 or more Scarabs in the base game to trigger the Free Spins
  • The round is played with a sixth reel and 10 free spin paylines
  • One special symbol is selected at random before the round starts
  • The expanding symbol can surface anywhere along an active line
  • 3 or more Scarabs during the round retrigger it

Minty’s Expert Conclusion: Two triggers in 420 spins is what the session produced, and the pair of them carried 2,300.00 of the 4,810.00 that came back. Both ran the flat 8 spins the rules award and neither retriggered, so the whole of the upside sat in what the randomly chosen expanding symbol did with sixteen spins.

Two rounds in 420 spins

It's a pity however that the engine behind it does not deliver the feature very often, and although the slot does have a conventional free spins game, over 420 spins it showed up twice. Those 420 spins went in at 20.00 each, 8,400.00 wagered against 4,810.00 returned. That was on spin 114 and again on spin 363, 249 spins later, and those two rounds paid 1,720.00 and 580.00. On spin 114 the base game paid 6.00 of its own alongside the round, for 1,726.00 off the single spin. That was 48% of everything I won. Neither round retriggered, and the longest stretch without a win anywhere ran 21 spins and ended on spin 356.

My session returned 57.3%. The balance closed at 21,410.00 from a 25,000.00 start. The balance never once rose above the 25,000.00 I began with, and 44 of the 84 paying spins handed back less than the stake. The low point was 21,330.00, and outside the two feature rounds the best single spin returned 340.00.
